Deutropuls Magnetic Yoke type 3446
Magnetic Yokes knows particular attention must be paid to Hot-Dip Galvanised Steel items when testing for cracks by Magnetic Particle Inspection (MPI)
Germany has found that in the case of Hot Dipped Galvanised infrastructure dangerous levels of cracking has been found undetected beneath the Zinc, leading to changes in design requirements and necessitating the creation of the DASt 022 Standard. This standard covers heavy steel structures and light infrastructure such as Stairs, Balconies, Handrails, Shelters and carports. This new standard specifies testing hot-dip galvanised structures.
KARL DEUTSCH was approached by SLV Duisburg, part of the German Welding Institute to assist with MPI analysis and standards compliance, from this evaluation is was realised standard yoke legs were limited in their ability to create an affective magnetic field over hot-dip galvanized zinc. So, two new attachment legs were created for the proven Deutropuls magnetic yoke to overcome this inability. MPI of hot-dip galvanized components was then proven reliable with Deutropuls, these new legs giving consistent results over a wide range of test shapes, meeting the new DASt 022 Guide.
These two additional Deutropuls geometrically optimised leg sets provide higher field intensity on the work piece due to their advanced angled design allowing greater surface contact, this intern creates a minimum field value of 4 kA/m or 40 A/cm. For this standard a minimum magnetizing time and the post-magnetizing time of 6 seconds each was also specified.
The two additional attachment Leg types for the Deutropuls yoke are; Fixed or Variable. Both are part of Magnetic Yokes Deutropuls range.
